Building a new home is a major life event. It can be a fun and exciting time if the process is well managed. We understand that and will be there to make the process and your life easier.

Take a look at some of the steps you can expect to go through when working with us to build your new home.

1. Choose the Location

Once you find a location that you love, either a lot of your choice or a lot in one of our communities, we will reserve the location for 30 days for a small fee.

2. Choose a Floor Plan

We offer several floor plans that can be customized to match your lifestyle. We can also work with floor plans that have been drawn up by other architects.

3. The Contract

In less than a weeks time, we will draft the contract and send it back to the buyer. At this time the buyer should be securing their financing and preparing for the earnest down payment. Once the contract has been sent we expect it to be returned within a week.

4. Color and Vendor Selection

Now for the exciting part – making design choices. At this point, you will use our Buildertrend software to pick exterior and interior colors and choose the vendors you would like to use for interior items like flooring, cabinetry, lighting etc. Selections must be completed before we can begin construction. Generally, we start construction four weeks from the time selections are finalized.

5. Construction Process Begins

Once you sign the contract, a schedule is developed and construction begins! The schedule includes a number of walk throughs at various stages of the process.

6. Rough Walk Through

Once the foundation has been poured and the frame of the house is in place, we will take you through the skeleton of the home.

7. Final Cleaning and Inspection

Once the finishing touches (paint, trim, flooring, appliances, etc.) are in place, our team will do a final inspection to make sure that everything is up to our exacting standards.

8. Final Walk Through

About a week before closing, we will contact you to make an appointment for a final tour. At this time, the people named on the contract and a representative from Putman will inspect the house and make sure everything looks just as you imagined.

9. Set Closing

Once we have determined the house is “clear to close”, we will schedule the closing. You should contact the utility companies to transfer services in your name.

10. Move in day

We turn over your keys and you can now move in and enjoy your new home.
